My Samsung SGH I789 crashed. I bought instead Samsung SGH-999. I opened my vault with the old password but I didn't find my photos. How can I recover or restore my photo from vault from the old phone?

These two phones are different regarding their operating system. This means that if you had a vault on one, it will never be compatible with the one on the second phone. In this case, recovery is not possible because the phones don't have a compatible operating system and even so, once the vault application has been deleted and the items were locked, there is no way to recover them.

If you lost data from your android phone,
the first thing, check out the backup, whether you have synced the data to Gmail account, or saved on your pc.
Then, you should never add more data to your phone after data loss, cuz they can take up more space, the lost data will be overwritten.
Last thing, you can try recovery methods, Recuva, you can also try professional data recovery programs to recover deleted photos.

This is probably too late but I really hope this can help you or others.
Firstly, We need to know why the deleted data can be recovered! When you delete a text message, the phone mark the message as “deleted”. Actually it still exists on your phone. If the messages did not be covered, then you can still get it back.
Secondly, The solutions to Recover deleted data are as followings:
5. The free solution is “recovering from your backups” . For Android users, May be you can try to recover from google driver. Of course, it bases on you have backups.
6. If you have no backups, you can try our ways. For android user, you can try FoneDog - Android Data Recovery. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Download and Install FoneDog Toolkit.
Step 2: Connect Your Phone to Computer.
Step 3: Select The File Types to Scan Your Device for.
Step 4: Scan Your Device to Find The Lost Data.
Step 5: Preview The Scanned Data and Recover Them.

If you have used some cloud storages such as Google photos and Dropbox, it will be super convenient to retrieve pictures from trash of such cloud drive. Next, I would take Google photos as an example to illustrate how to recover deleted photos from Samsung Galaxy.
1.Open Google Photos and tap on "Trash".
2.Select the deleted items that you feel like recovering.
3.Finally tap on the recover button at the upper right. Finished.

Note: Items in trash of Google Photos will be permanently deleted after 60 days, while Trash of Dropbox is only available in the webpage version and saves photos only for 30 days.

When you set up Samsung phone, you will be asked to sign in with Samsung Account. Once you did that, the data on the phone will be synced to Samsung Cloud so you can find deleted files from there.
