You should be able to convert existing PDF documents into a stack of images to be used with a flipbook, with the help of ImageMagick or GhostScript on Ubuntu:

I searched a while in Google aiming to get the Unbuntu-supported PDF to flipbook converters. But nothing found.
If you want to turn PDF to flipbook, instead, you can try to convert PDF to flipbook by some free online services:
1. Issuu: upload PDF, and then it can help you turn PDF to flipbook for free.
2. Flipsnack: its free online service.
Personally I use a Mac PDF to flash flip book software.
