Cannot get my printer to install. It keeps saying I need Windows XP or higher or 7. I have Windows 8.

This means that the driver you are trying to install does not recognize Windows 8 and it treats it as an unrecognizable OS. Visit the support page of the printer's manufacturer and look for newer drivers for your printer. Download and install them and the printer should be recognized.
