I delete somehow the Search menu icon in the Start Menu. There is no icon now. I had something which looked like a gear which disappeared when I believe I accidentally uninstalled something. Is there a way to recover it?

If you accidentally removed the Search icon from the Start Menu, there is a way to add it back. To do this, go to Start > Run > regedit.exe and press Enter. From the new opened window, you need to navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer right click on NoFind and change its value to 0. After you did this, Save the changes, click OK to exit and reboot your computer.

To fix this problem, you can use the Command Prompt to. For this, go to Start > Run > cmd.exe and press Enter. In the Command Prompt type :
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v NoFind /t REG_DWORD /d 0 and press Enter and reboot your PC. You should find the Search icon in the Start Menu.
