Registry Mechanic was discontinued on 4 December 2013. This means that you cannot make it work in Windows 8 and I strongly advise you to not use it because you could severely damage Windows installation.
Try using another application of this kind. For example, Tune Up Utilities 2014 is a product compatible with Windows 8 and offers the same features and functions as Registry Mechanic.
