How does the best friend function work?

I don't Snapchat anybody but my girlfriend, so why are other people on my Snapchat's best friends list? I've never even Snapchatted them. How does it work?

The best friends list is created when you frequently Snapchat other people. Based on how many times you have chat with them, the applications adds their names to the best friends list. This is how the application works.
