Yes, the interference is necessary because the display device will reset allowing the change of the resolution. This happens for all the display devices that have a possibility to switch the resolution. It's something normal and completely safe. For example, if you want to test what I'm saying, try switching the resolution of your desktop PC (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc). The behavior is the same.
