Nowadays there are a lot of programs specialized in recovering deleted or corrupted files.
If you have a Windows Operating System on your machine you can use Recuva. You can download the free version with no support or decide to pay $24.95 and get the Professional edition. It can run under Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2008 Server, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
If you are using a Mac Operating System you can use Data Rescue 3. It costs $99 and is compatible with any Mac OS 10.6 or later.
