It has been reported that in some cases the installation package (driver) messes up the CD-ROM driver. To fix it, remove the modem from your computer and then completely uninstall Mobile Partner. After this process, go to Device manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc) and locate the problematic device. Right click it and choose Remove/Uninstall. Reboot the computer and make sure you are connected to the Internet then access Device manager again and install the driver for the application. Right click the item again and select Update Driver, but this time choose the automatic way.
