Microsoft Office is already installed but I can't access the installation of the trial version. How do I verify if both versions are installed?

You can't have more than one copy of the same version installed on your computer. It's possible to have Windows 2003, 2007, 2010 installed on one computer but there can't be two versions of 2003 installed, for example. You can check for their installation in Control Panel under Add or Remove programs.
