I read in Microsoft Help the steps to enable Windows 7 to accept Office 2003. How can I get the proper steps without making a mistake?

There is no need to follow extra steps if you want to install Office 2003 on Windows 7. The setup package will work just fine. Simply right click the setup file on the CD and select Windows XP as compatibility from Compatibility tab and it will work just fine. You will then have to use Run as Administrator for the installer to copy all the needed files to their location.
