PC to Tablet connection.

It seems that one has to set up both PC and tablet on the same "subnet mask", which is probably OK for computer geeks, however, it immediately puts me off. Why isn't there direct connection by USB cable? To me this will work a lot easier as I only need to use my tablet as a second screen like I typically use a 2nd screen at my desk.

It's OK to have the same subnet mask for two devices, the problems arise when you want to use two IPs for the same devices. That's where the problems appear. However, a tablet should be compatible with WiFi which means you can connect it to the Internet source using this method, and use LAN or WiFi for the PC to connect as well. Direct USB connection exists only for a very limited number of devices that aren't supported anymore.
