The software shouldn't have these limitations. However, try to create a folder somewhere on your disk. Make sure the folder is accessible outside the application and then attempt to save again. It's possible the folders you have selected for saving are created and used by the system, therefore access isn't granted. Choosing a custom folder should increase the chances of it working normally.
