Could I use this program to make a collage of bottle caps? Would I have to take a photo of each bottle cap first?

Yes. In order to create a collage, you first need to take a picture of every bottle cap that you intend on using. This application only works with virtual pictures. After you completed the collage on your computer, you can use it as a pattern to create a real collage from your bottle caps.
