Usually, the files of an installed application can be found in the Program Files folder of your computer (C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(X86) for the 64bits Windows version). Right-click on a shortcut, go to Properties and you will find the root location of the application/ file in the General tab.

my way is different because if I want the original program, I just need to go to the 'program files' and I just copy only the files Then, paste it into the desktop can sometimes have to be original but sometimes can be a shortcut.
