The scan feature is not available and the Symatec icon doesn't appear in the task bar. Can you help?

In order to solve the issue, launch the application, click the LiveUpdate button and update it following the provided instructions. If it doesn't work, download the update package and install it manually over the current version of the program. After that, right-click the Taskbar and click Customize below the Notification area. Locate the Symantec Endpoint Protection icon and select the Show icon and notifications option from Behaviors list.
