Remove it from the add or remove programs in Control panel.

Go to control panel, select change or remove programs, select windows software updates, select windows media player, select uninstall.

You can use a shortcut to call a program to remove the core module of Windows Media Player. Go to Start > Run > %windir%\$ntUninstallwmp11$\spuninst\spuninst.exe. Type the mentioned command and the uninstallation process will start.
