VLC player is much powerful to support various audio formats. If you can not play the Divx videos in VLC, then you need to transcode the Divx video first for playing.

VLC Media Player does not need additional codecs to play files. It supports MPEG-2, DivX, H.264, MKV, WebM, WMV, MP3 and many other formats. Just install latest version to have all the updates and go to File > Open then select your media. Most definitely, it will play it eliminating the need to install additional codecs.
