I've lost my MBR and partition table.

Does the system state what is listed in my backup file, like does it actually have the MBR and partition table in it? If so, can I reload them only? This information will help me decide what steps I need to take next. Thanks in advance.

The answer is no because system state saves files from the Windows directory. Try to boot the PC with Windows install disc and access the recovery console/menu. Use the Startup option and the error will be fixed automatically by Windows Recovery. It works in XP, Vista, and 7.
