If you plug into the router with a cable you'd have a full 100 Mbps cconention, there's either a cconention (or a faulty cable if not signal strength' doesn't come into it with a cable If the distance is long, or complicated router, then another option would be to consider powerline adaptors (try looking on Amazon for Solwise 85 Mbps adaptors) and the data goes over the mains wiring in the house. It's a neater solution if there is a long cable run to make the cconention, and you can add more adaptors if you ever add more PCs, and now you can even get some ADSL routers with powerline cconention built in.
