Problems with the DNS lookup function.

I had very stable performance from this modem for over a year, but now I get poor DNS lookup performance. If I disconnect and reconnect (by software) it usually resolves. The network frequently loses all packets at some IP address upstream from me, so I suspect a network operator issue rather than a radio link issue. When I contacted my network supplier (3Ireland) I get some dubious advice along the lines of "Buy a new modem from us". So I thought I'd update the software instead. Does anyone know the exact URL of the download site for version 18.1.4.25? The Huawei page does not have a 'Download' link and the search function doesn't find it either.

It appears there is no available firmware to download for this modem which means you will have to troubleshoot it by yourself. I would recommend using Public DNS servers instead of the ones provided by your carrier. To do this, connect the modem, go to Network and Internet in Control Panel and look for Network Connections/Adapters. Right click the connection for modem, go to IPV4 and assign the following DNS servers:

DNS Public no.1: 8.8.8.8
DNS Public no.2: 8.8.4.4

These are the public DNS servers provided by Google. You should use them instead of the ones provided by your carrier.
