AsiaSat 2 has been decommissioned in 2009 and replaced with AsiaSat 5. The AsiaSat 2 transponder parameters was 100.5° East and 17° East. The new satellite is still in service and it has the below parameters:

- Inclination: 0.00 degrees;
- Period: 23.93 hours;
- Reference system: Geocentric;
- Regime: Geostationary.
