Can't activate McAfee 2.5.0.6173.

The McAfee software came with the HP 500 laptop but I can't activate the software over the Internet. It keeps giving me this error message, "An error occurred during activation.Your copy of Total Protection has not been activated. Try activating again later."

The McAfee antivirus has been updated for a very long time. Your version can't be activated because it doesn't have the required server to do so. You will need to download a new version of the software if you want to activate it. Access the website and then you should have the possibility to download the necessary package. Additionally, you might need to buy the product again because there is no support for the version you try to activate.
