You can read PDF files on your Kindle Fire natively, but only after you transfer them to the Documents folder. Once you perform this operation, you can then select the files from the same folder. If you can't connect the device to the computer, you have the ability to download them from Dropbox as it's supported by the Kindle Fire device.
