Why is my Photosmart printer saying it cannot work because there is a memory card error when I have never used a memory card?

Almost every Photosmart printer has an OSD menu that you can use for various actions. Please use the built-in menu and reset the device to its factory defaults. Also, please check the place you insert a memory card. Maybe, someone used it with a memory card and forgot it there. Once you perform the reset, the device will return to its normal functionality.
