The Windows Registry is one of the primary cause for Windows slowing down, because it's a huge trash bin of software left-over files. I wonder, is there anything of the kind in MacOS?

Some similar information with the one stored by Windows Registry, can be found in a Mac's following paths ~/Library/Preferences and /Library/Preferences and are called .plist files. Mac OS X keeps an application's settings in two places: inside the application, and in the user's preferences.

Dear Guus, I really understand your problem which is to clean up your Mac OS X and increase the performance speed of it. For this you need to do it, in the way Mac OS X is considered. Here are some useful tips for that, you can easily afford them without any technical details : - http://www.tidyupformac.org/get-mac-os-free-of-duplicate-files-with-tidy-up-mac-tool
