Unable to update ATI x1200 on AMD Athlon 64 x2

Every time I update my ATI x1200 series, it messes up giving a low resolution mode which I cannot change unless I restore the computer to a later date. Can anybody help me out? I use an AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ dual core with ATI x1200 series on board.

Please try to obtain the latest available drivers for your operating system. Since the graphics card was put to legacy devices because it's not supported anymore you will need to download 10.2 version of the driver. Also, try to update your system before updating the drivers for the graphics card.
