How to delete recent contacts from my MTS ZTE phone?

I can't delete recent contacts which appear when I write a new text message.

All phones have the possibility to remove recent contacts from the calling and messages logs. Please enter the respective category and press the menu button. You will have the possibility to clear al recent logs regarding callers, traffic, messages, etc.

On the ZTE 817 cleverly hid on the installed app list is a blue dot with a white person icon labled "Contacts".
Tap it and add/subtract, edit, etc. Have Fun

YOU CAN NOT DO THIS THROUGH THE PHONE APP. Go into the contact app. That should do it.
