I've recently purchased a Canon MX510 and am astounded how slow the scanner is (2 minutes or more per a page). What troubleshooting recommendations do you have?

I am using a MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.5. The Canon MX510 is connected wirelessly. Any suggestions are most appreciated. Thank you.

I found one suggestion online about re-installing the drivers. I did that and got the same results.

The scanning speed is entirely based on the DPI settings. For example, if you want a bigger resolution, you increase the DPI setting and the scan speed will decrease. On the contrary, if you set the DPI to a lower value, you will see that the speed will drastically increase. You can change this setting from the printer's preference menu.
