My iPhone music players crash a lot. iTunes works fine, but I also used NetSync for iTunes to transfer music to a ReQuest server. Might that cause problems with how the iPhone music player performs?

Yes.

In case of any problems with iTunes, the first Apple's advice is removing 3rd party plugins.

Moreover, NetSync problem might damage iPhone music library. If it did, you should restore its firmware after removing plugins.

Please avoid using 3rd party applications when you want to perform sync operations with music, for example. Your files might get broken during the transfer phase. Nobody wants or loves iTunes that much but it seems that it allows you to transfer the files without errors. If your music file is corrupted during the sync process, you might need to perform a mass deletion in order to fix the errors.
