You will need to acquire new sound drivers for your computer. You can search for latest drivers using the support website that is available for your laptop. Please turn the laptop upside down and locate its model on the sticker attached. Use the model number and perform a Google Search and you will be taken to the support site. Input the model number into the search field and search for Windows 8 drivers. Install the drivers (if they're available) and then try to use the mic again.
