how can i run btrieve on windows 8

I have an application that uses btrieve. My windows 7 computer cratered. When I try to run my application on a replacement computer with Win 8. I get the msg that 16 bit programs cannot run on 64 bit computers. Is there a way to run my 16 bit app on a 64 bit computer?
