KMZ is a format which is used by Google Earth to store certain locations. If you want to convert it to XLS then you need to use an application like Stuffit Expander to extract the KML file that is packed into the archive, then use Excel to open the file. Its structure is more like a XML file so you should be able to open it and convert it to XLS.
