Does it only sync the default calendar and contacts folders? Could you configure it to sync multiple calendars and multiple contacts folders? E.g. Users syncing with multiple calendars - their own calendars and others' - and multiple contacts folders - their own and perhaps a company-wide one - from my caldav server?
