Like Android 2.3, Ice Cream Sandwich offers you the possibility to take screenshots using a combination of buttons, like: Volume Down + Power Button. When you press these buttons simultaneously you will see an animation which indicates that the screenshot was saved successfully. You can find the screenshot in the Screenshots folder on you storage device.

Volume down along with the top power button really does take a screen shot, you just have to keep trying until it catches.
