Does Poster support Chinese character fonts?

I have them on my PC and I can see Poster lists them in the font window, but it displays some strange drawings.

If the software has the ability to choose the fonts to display text, then yes it supports all kinds of fonts. Make sure that the fonts used are not damaged, because it may happen and also, check to see if the application provides a way to set the encoding of the text because in many cases this is the major problem: the encoding. Choose an ISO standard that is compatible with your fonts.
