What is the best method to convert an illustrated book (docx with jpeg images) for e/iBook publishing?

I have an original illustrated children's book that I want to e-publish and have been looking at the various converters, direct and aggregators. I am on Windows platform, but could borrow an iPad to convert, if that is better. Comparison websites or blogs? Some are well-documented, like Smashwords, but take a big chunk of profits. InDesign, pdf, ePub,iTunes, Amazon, Book Creator, Blurb, Yudu or? Advice and help greatly appreciated.

Recommend you use aXmag Online convert pdf to flash book to make your illustrated book to on-line flipping book, but you need to save .docx file as pdf file at first. If you need fully control the result and make the ipad publishing, suggest you download and install aXmag desktop client.
