Why can't I open a Brushes Redux file in Brushes Viewer?

I am unable to open any Brushes Redux file in Brushes Viewer. I can open the sample files that come with Brushes Viewer but not one I create myself with Brushes Redux. Both files have the same .brushes extension. I can find nothing online to help me. I am an art teacher using Brushes Redux on a class set of 25 iPads.

I want to use the viewer for enlarging paintings made with brushes-redux. Brushes one day stopped working but it was possible to continue in brushes-redux. Since then I use the redux. I use and love both brushes and inkpad, perhaps the best painting programs ever developed, but I am desperate for enlargement of the brushes paintings. Is there another way around, could we export .brushes-redux files to a later verson of Brushes first, and from there to the viewer? I have no access to my desktop right now and cannot experiment.
