Is the Android wear's twisty/crown knob the only way to set the date on time machine watchface from Seenapps?

I notice not all Android Wear devices have a knob and Moto 360 of erniefolchi's doesn't have a knob to potentially let him leave the present through time, I wonder if the knob makes the watchface app powerful.
