The problem might be related to the source that you're using to start the video. For example, if you're playing from a DVD then you have to check the DVD for scratches. Typically, use a simple COPY from the DVD to the local PC and see if it goes through. If by any means, the copy operation stops, then the DVD is scratched and can't be read.
Secondly, the software might be faulty or have issues. In most of the cases, a simple reinstallation will fix this issue.
