Importing files directly could do the trick because the Canvas and CDR file format are something familiar regarding the technology used to create these files. Simply open the file in CorelDraw because it supports many file formats. While adding the file, you will see a menu where you can customize the imported file to fit your needs.
On the other hand a Canvas file means a raster image in the PNG, JPG and BMP file format. This is even easier to handle because you can import these files by a simple drag and drop operation without the need to convert.
