A video driver allows Windows to properly recognize the graphical card and provide access to all its features. A basic driver only allows you to switch resolution, and see things on screen without hardware acceleration.
You should consult the user guide of the motherboard to see if the graphical card is on-board or not, then you can proceed to download the necessary driver if it's on PCI-E (standalone card).
