It's possible that the drivers are not compatible with the operating system you're planning to install it on. Additionally, disable Driver Enforcement on Windows 8.1 and then install the application. You might need to accept a warning prior to the installation of the drivers, but it will work normally afterwards. I have encountered this issue with various devices, and after disabling the Driver Enforcement everything worked normally.
