I have checked for information regarding this mode, and the latest version of Windows compatible with it is Windows 7. In Windows 8, install the software using compatibility, then Go to Windows +C > Settings > Change PC Settings > Update and Recovery > Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart > Troubleshoot Startup > Startup > Restart. Press 7 to disable Driver Enforcement, connect the modem, and accept the warning to install it. Reboot again and it should work normally.
