The problem you encounter is not with Windows 7 updates, but with running applications on your computer. "Access Violation" actually means that the application is trying to access a part of the memory that's already in use and assigned to something else. In most of the cases, it can be fixed by closing all other running applications, but if that's not the case, then simply go to Start > Run > msconfig and switch to the Startup tab. Disable all the items (3rd party software) and leave only the system ones, then reboot the PC and start the software.
