How to add new fonts to GIMP?

GIMP uses the same fonts available in your Windows Fonts directly. To install a font, close GIMP, locate the font in TTF format and then go to Start > Run > fonts. Drag and drop the TTF file into that folder and watch the installation progress. When finishes, start Gimp, select the Text Type tool and type something. Select the text and then choose the newly installed font from the fonts list.
