This happens when the application is not properly configured to shutdown the computer. I recommend you start the application and then check the settings you use to shutdown the computer.
To force the application to shut down processes, access the configuration settings and then tick the Force Shutdown option. When it's used, the application will force all the processes to terminate. This could be a cause for the application's malfunction. If a process doesn't close, the Smart Shutdown will fail.
