I had been using the Free Desktop timer for quite some time without problem, but for the past few months it has stopped working properly. When I enter the time to count down and press start it goes to straight to zero and bleeps. I am not certain when this started happening, but when I first noted its non working, I had not changed computers, hardware or software. The OS was Windows 8.1

In April of this year I built a new computer and installed a newly purchased Windows 8.1. I reinstalled Desktop Timer which did work for about a week then started failing. Whilst a number of hardware on my new computer is new there are a number of items taken from my old computer which was only 2 years old so not ancient.

I was wondering if there were any common cause for its failure. I will be installing Windows 10 as soon as it is downloaded to my computer.

I would appreciate any advice you are able to give as it is the only desk top count down timer I have come across that meets what I was looking for. Floating, count down, able to input the down time within the floating window and automatically stops and stays at Zero once the count down reaches zero. In other words it was great when it was working.

I have downloaded and installed the application and it works normally. I have simulated a countdown operation and everything was OK, but there is a issue. In its native mode, the software has graphical errors. Because of that, it's necessary to apply a compatibility tweak. Right click the shortcut, then go to Properties > Compatibility. Choose Windows XP Service Pack 3 from the list then launch the application using Run as Administrator and it should be OK.
