Compatibility is the key word regarding this kind of matter. Newer operating systems are using newer components and advanced file systems which older software do not have and such comes the fact that it won’t run giving various kind of errors. In your case, obtaining an update version of the software should resolve the problem or a simple patch/fix available from developer website. Reverting back to the operating system the software requires for full compatibility is also a good thing but there is no point in downgrading an entire operating system if and only if there is a patch to resolve this issue.
