Font de-activation while switching folders

I have my fonts in different folders: western, mexican, vintage, grunge, etc. When I activate a font in one folder (red check mark) and then switch to another folder to activate another font, the first gets de-activated. Is there a way to prevent this?

It's possible the program accepts only one active font at the time. This happens for graphical applications when you want to type or design something that uses a font. Firstly, access the Settings of the application, then look for Font settings. If there isn't anything, then the program only allows one font to be active at the time.
